Overview

The Locations page (found under Parts → Locations) gives you a visual, organized way to manage where your parts are stored. You can create locations (like shelves, racks, or bins), assign parts to them, and easily move one or many parts at a time.

Understanding the Locations Page

When you open the Locations page, you'll see two main areas:

Left Sidebar — Location List This panel lists all of your storage locations (e.g., Unassigned, Rack 1, Rack 2, Rack 3). Click any location to see the parts currently stored there. "Unassigned" shows all parts that haven't been assigned to a specific location yet.

Main Panel — Parts List Displays the parts in the selected location, along with columns for Part Number, Description, Vendor, Location, Stock, Cost, Price, Last Counted, and Last Sold. You can search for specific parts using the Search parts bar, or narrow results using the Filter button.

Method 1: Move Multiple Parts Using Bulk Edit (Recommended)

This is the fastest way to move several parts at once.

  1. In the left sidebar, click the location that currently contains the parts you want to move (or start from Unassigned).

  2. Check the checkbox next to each part you want to move. You can also check the header checkbox to select all parts on the page.

  3. Once parts are selected, you'll see a "X selected" counter appear at the top right, along with a Bulk Edit button.

  4. Click Bulk EditMove to Location.

  5. A location picker will appear — select the destination location (and sub-location if applicable).

  6. Confirm the move. All selected parts will be updated to the new location immediately.

To clear your selection without making changes, click Bulk Edit → Clear Selection.

Method 2: Move an Individual Part via Edit

You can also update a part's location directly from its edit page.

  1. Find the part in the list (either browse by location in the sidebar or use Search parts).

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right side of the part's row.

  3. Select Edit from the dropdown.

  4. On the part edit page, scroll down to the Inventory section.

  5. Under Location, click the current location field — a dropdown will appear showing all available locations.

  6. Select the new location from the list. If you need to assign the part to an additional location (not replace), click + Add another location.

  7. Scroll down and save your changes.

Creating New Locations and Sub-Locations

To add a new location:

  • Use the Add Location button (the map pin icon) in the top-right of the sidebar.

  • You can create top-level locations (e.g., "Shelf A") and sub-locations within them (e.g., "Shelf A – Bin 1").

Sub-locations allow you to be more precise about exactly where a part lives within a larger storage area.

Tips

  • The Locations page is best for visual, bulk management — it's easy to see all parts in a given location and move them around quickly.

  • For one-off location changes on a single part, the Edit page (via the three-dot menu or by clicking the part name) works well.

  • Parts that haven't been assigned to any location appear under Unassigned — this is a great place to start organizing a new inventory.

  • Each location also has a History tab so you can see past activity for parts in that location.
