A sublet work order is when you take on a job for a customer but outsource the actual work to a third-party vendor or shop. You're responsible for the job from the customer's perspective. You collect payment and manage the relationship, while the subcontracted company performs the work.
Example: A customer brings in their truck for a windshield replacement. You accept the job, but send it to a partnered glass shop that charges you $300. You bill the customer $350. The $50 difference is your margin on the sublet work.
How to Add Sublet Work to a Work Order
There are a few ways to add sublet work in EasyTruckShop depending on your workflow:
β
β1. Virtual Part Number
Add the sublet work as a virtual part and set your sell price. This works well for one-off jobs where the cost may vary each time.
2. Sublet Service Type
If you sublet a specific type of work regularly, like windshield replacements or machining engines, you can create a dedicated service type with a preset price. This saves time and keeps your invoices consistent. Or you can set a preset percentage based on the amount you put in there. This way you can also track this in reporting of how many sublets you do a month or buy whatever custom timeframe you desire.
3. Fee
You can add the sublet cost as a fee on the work order.
4. Complaint
The sublet work can also be added directly as a complaint line on the work order. This works well for one-off jobs where the cost may vary each time, just shows up as a complaint not a virtual part number.
