Steps to Add a New Tax Rate

1. Go to Your Profile

  • Click your profile icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Select Settings.

2. Open System Settings

  • Click System from the sub-menu.

  • On the left side, select Tax Rates.

3. Set Up Your Sales Tax Settings

  • Under System Sales Tax Settings, click Add Tax Rate.

4. Create Your Tax Rate

  • Enter your desired tax rate details (name, percentage, etc.).

  • If you want this to be your default tax rate, toggle the Default Tax Rate slider.

5. Save It

  • Click Create (your new tax rate is now active!)

How to Change Your Default Tax Rate

  • Go back to Tax Rates under System Settings.

  • Click the tax rate you want to make your new default.

  • Toggle the Default Tax Rate slider on.

  • Click Update (your shop will now use this rate by default.)

When Does Tax Apply Automatically?

EasyTruckShop applies tax based on a few rules worth knowing:

  • The default tax rate you set in System Settings is applied automatically to all new invoices and part sales.

  • If a customer is marked as tax-exempt in their profile, tax will not be applied to their invoices.

  • Tax can be manually adjusted or removed on individual invoices before finalizing.

  • Once an invoice is finalized, tax cannot be changed.

That’s it! You’re ready to apply the correct taxes to your parts, services, and sales.

How to Mark a Customer as Tax-Exempt

  1. Open the customer's profile.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Find the Tax Exempt toggle or checkbox.

  4. Enable it and save.

Once marked exempt, that customer's invoices will have tax set to $0.00 by default. You can still manually add tax to an individual invoice if needed.
