WAC FAQ & Troubleshooting

Q: Why does my part cost look wrong?

  • Double-check that you’re receiving parts through a PO with the correct unit cost.

  • Manual adjustments won’t recalculate WAC (only POs and bulk Correct Stock do)

Q: Can I manually change the WAC?

  • Yes, but it is a process. WAC updates automatically each time you receive new stock.

  • If you need to adjust it, change the purchase cost on your next PO or do a manual inventory adjustment with the updated cost through the Correct Stock tab (not recommended often).

Q: Why does my sales price not match the WAC?

The sales price is set by your Price Matrix, not by WAC directly. WAC is the input; the Price Matrix is the formula; sale price is the result.

To troubleshoot:

  1. Go to Settings → Part Settings → Price Matrix.

  2. Check that a matrix is still active and assigned. If a matrix was deleted, the system can no longer calculate a sale price automatically.

  3. Check the part itself — if Lock Sales Price is toggled on, the matrix is bypassed and the price is fixed manually.

  4. If no matrix is assigned to the customer, the system falls back to the part's manually set sale price.

Q: How do I check a part’s WAC?

  • Go to the Parts tab, find the part, and open its details.

  • The Weighted Average Cost is shown in the part’s Inventory Info.

Q: My Price Matrix was deleted — what happens now?

If a Price Matrix that was assigned to parts or customers gets deleted, several things break silently:

  • Parts that relied on that matrix will lose their automatic sale price calculation.

  • The Finalize button on invoices containing those parts may become greyed out or unresponsive, with no error message explaining why. The Price matrix might be the first step!

To fix it:

  1. Go to Settings → Part Settings → Price Matrix.

  2. Recreate the matrix with the same name and markup rules or assign a new matrix.

  3. Re-assign it to the affected parts or customers.

  4. Try finalizing the invoice again.

⚠️ Note: There is a warning when a matrix is deleted, just easy to miss when frustrated. If your Finalize button is stuck and all services are marked complete, a missing Price Matrix is the most likely cause.

Q: My WAC looks correct but the invoice price is still wrong — why?

If WAC is accurate but the part is pricing incorrectly on an invoice, check these in order:

  1. Is a Price Matrix assigned? If not, the system has no markup rule to apply.

  2. Is Lock Sales Price turned on for that part? If yes, it bypasses the matrix entirely.

  3. Is a Cost Floor set? If the cost floor is higher than your actual WAC, the matrix will calculate markup from the floor, not the WAC.

  4. Is the part assigned to the right customer matrix? Some customers may have a different matrix assigned under their profile.

Troubleshooting Tip: If your WAC seems off, review your PO history for that part (make sure all costs and quantities were entered correctly)
