How to Add a Vehicle to a Customer 🚚

This article explains how to add a vehicle to an existing or new customer in EasyTruckShop.

Step 1: Add Vehicle

  • Go to the Customers tab and select the company you want to add the vehicle to

    (If it’s a new company, click New Customer first)

  • Click the Add Vehicle button on the right side

Step 2: Enter Vehicle Information

  • Fill out the vehicle details (make, model, unit number, etc.)

  • Entering the VIN number will automatically decode and populate the year, make, and model

    This saves time and helps ensure accuracy.

Step 3: Select Vehicle Type and Tracking Options

  • Choose the vehicle type: Truck, Trailer, or Other

  • Toggle Track Miles or Track Hours if you'd like to log this info each time a service is performed

    Note: You’ll be asked to enter updated miles or hours during each service check-in.

Step 4: Add Company Information

  • Enter a Unit Number if your company uses internal vehicle IDs

  • Choose whether the vehicle contact is a Carrier or an Owner Operator

    • If Owner Operator is selected, you can add new contact info here

  • Click Save to finish adding the vehicle

Step 5: Edit Vehicle Details

  • To edit a vehicle later, go to the company in the Customers tab

  • Select the vehicle and click the Edit button on the right side

  • Update details as needed using steps 2–4 above

βœ… The vehicle is now saved to the customer's profile and ready to be used in services and work orders.
